Thanksgiving Gratitude Basket

I got this idea from SCS.  I used a basket pattern.  Here’s the link to the original instructions by the highly talented Beate Johns:  
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/treat_box/.  I used a couple of 12″x12″ sheets I had laying around that had an autumn look.

I created the cards from some scraps I had gotten in a scrap pack from AC Moore.  I used the Thankful Season stamp set.  My girls helped me watercolor some of the cards (I made 25).  I used the slit punch to hold the card together and added a  metal dot from Joann’s.  I crimped some paper strips and stuffed it in the basket along with the cards for a fuller look.  It went over really well at Thanksgiving.  Everyone filled out what they were grateful for.  Between courses, everyone pulled out a card, read it and we all had to guess who had written it.  Some were very sweet, but my favorite was my husband’s cousin Heidi, who said she was “thankful for George Clooney”.  LOL  We all decided this was a good tradition that we would keep up with each year.  It will be interesting to see what people are thankful for from year to year.  Have fun!
